Zinergy UK has joined an EU funded consortium with over 20 partners across Europe. The project is named as “TEESMAT”. There are three core objectives in this project, including open access to advanced characterisation solution for material, awareness of the industry and sustainable open innovation test bed& community. During the R&D, Zinergy UK is going to challenge development of a process/capability to measure printed electrodes in line for QA. Secondly, the challenge is to understand the mechanism of degradation of the cell. Finally, it is going to be addressed to obtain some clarity on the regulatory framework and routes for recycling applicable for this type of battery. According to our CEO Dr. Pritesh Hiralal , the project will allow us to increase the excellence of our batteries by using the state of the art facilities across Europe.
Since the 11th of December, the office of Zinergy UK has been moved into a bright and spacious space with a open view located at the first floor of FBC.
Our CSO Dr. Dr Dilek Ozgit announced that the team won the award for Analysis for Innovators (A4I) Round 3 Competition from Innovate UK for “Wettability of Printed Electrodes for Ultra-Thin Zinergy Batteries”. Innovate UK is part of UK Research and Innovation, a non-departmental public body funded by a grant-in-aid from the UK government. It drives productivity and economic growth by supporting businesses to develop and realise the potential of new ideas, including those from the UK’s world-class research base.
Cooperating with LPWAN leading company Zifisense located in Cambridge and China, the two companies launched ZETag together to Japanese markets at ET&IoT Technology 2018 in Tokyo. Zinergy will provide our ultra-thin printed batteries integrating with ZETA modules to produce cutting-edge LPWAN Tags called ZETag, which uses WideArea sensors to feed for logistics,smart packaging and biomedical monitoring. Once a ZETag is triggered by an event, the sensor working together with the capacity from a Zinergy battery will send the tracking data to a ZETA server through an access point. And then, the clients can be informed by their enterprise clouds. ZETag including Zinergy’s battery is soft and thin and disposable. Especially, the overall cost is very low in cents. Comparing with RFID, LPWAN Tags such as ZETag, LoRa Tag and Sigfox Tag are more economic due to high costs on RFID reader and writer.
Our CEO Dr. Pritesh Hiralal showed our ultra-thin printed batteries and advanced flexible battery material such as positive and negative electrodes and electrolyte ink materials at CHINA HI-TECH Fair 2018, 2J30 in Hall 2 and Outstanding Innovative Product Display Zone ( the second floor) located at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Centre . Also, some applications and integrations are launched, including temperature-sensing patches, active RFID tags, electronic ink displays, LED electronic business cards and health monitoring patches.

“Printed, Flexible Energy storage and its application in Healthcare Patches: The Patch4Life Project” Over the last 9 months we have been developing a wearable patch for monitoring elderly patients. The full patch is designed on a flex PCB and is powered by a combination of energy scavenging and printed energy storage. Working with another innovative Cambridge-based start-up company, Zinergy UK Ltd secures funding to further develop its printed energy platform to power Patch4Life™, towards the thinnest, lightest and smartest personal monitoring bio-electronic smart patch device. CITC’s medical patch, Patch4Life™, which uses sensors to measure various health and environmental parameters and has the capacity to communicate wirelessly with the wearer will now include Zinergy’s ultra-thin battery and super capacitor technology in a new and exciting project called “Re-Patch”. This project will bring about a light, thin and flexible personal well-being monitor that will adapt it’s shape to the body thereby allowing for a more comfortable fit for everyday life.
Zinergy attended its first commercial fair with an invited talk and a stand and showcased the Ultra-thin(tm) battery for the first time. It was well received and has generated a lot of commercial interest! Pushing forward!
