He heads the Electronics, Power and Energy Conversion Group, one of four major research groups within the Electrical Engineering Division of the Cambridge Engineering Faculty. Professor Amaratunga was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2004. In 2007 he was awarded the Royal Academy of Engineering Silver Medal 'for outstanding personal contributions to British engineering'.
Dr Dilek Ozgit
Chief Scientific Officer
Dr Dilek Ozgit received a BSc degree with a first class honours in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Middle East Technical University, Turkey in 2012. She received a full scholarship to study for her Ph.D on nanomaterial enhanced energy storage devices in Cambridge University Engineering Department. Her research interests are printed and flexible energy storage solutions, zinc based battery chemistry and electrochemical capacitors. She is fully involved in the development of Zinergy's battery as the co-founder and CSO.
Dr Luigi Occhipinti
Non-Exec Director
Luigi Occhipinti, MEng PhD, is Outreach and Business Development Manager of the EPSRC Centre for Innovative Manufacturing in Large-Area Electronics. He joined the University of Cambridge, Department of Engineering, in 2014 with 20 years of industrial experience in the field of semiconductors and integrated smart systems. Luigi is author and co-author of more than 85 scientific articles, 2 book chapters, and 37 patent families, and co-founder of CITC Ltd, a Cambridge start-up active in the medical field.
Dr Nalin Rupesinghe
Before joining Zinergy he was a founder of a successful start-up Nanoinstruments Ltd, UK, (acquired by AIXTRON in 2007). He has contributed to many EU funded research projects including “Graphene Flagship” as the deputy for “Production”. He received his B.Sc in Physical Science with first class honours from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 1994 and PhD from Cambridge University, UK in 2004. His previous roles include 2 years as Founder/CTO at Nanoinstruments Ltd, and 9 years as project/business development manager at Aixtron Ltd. He is the author/co-author of 60+ papers and 15 patents/filed applications.
Man Chongyu
Mr. Man possesses nearly 14 years of financial and industrial experience, and has operated more than 60 trusts or funds with an accumulative total amount of 18 billion RMB. He is holding a master degree from the University of Cambridge. Mr. Man was a trust investment manager and a private equity investment manager in Beijing International Trust Co.,Ltd. Now he is the co-founder and general manager of Beijing Guohuahuijin Asset Management Co., Ltd.
Dr. Zanxiang Nie
Dr. received a BSc degree from Bath University and a PhD degree from Cambridge University. He has spent 3 years as a Post-doctor/research associate in Tsinghua University. He has 3 years’ experience as a general manager for running an investment and management company. His research interests include the interface and control circuits for various energy storage devices and renewable energy systems. He is now a founder, the CFO of Zinergy UK, and the CEO of Zinergy Shenzhen.
Jian Zhuang
Ms Jian Zhuang holds a MA degree in Mass Communication from Bedfordshire University. She is experienced with introducing Chinese investments to UK and acting as a liaison between Chinese Investors and Key founders of startups. Also, she has got commercial experience entering the Chinese market with potential users of high technologies and with setting up larger operations, such as introducing the technologies from Skin Analytics and Genefirst to BBCAGROUP in China and setting up Henan Inergy new material technology company in Zhngzhou as a key founder.
Karolina Spalek
Her interest in chemistry and practical engineering solutions led her to study quality analysis in food technology obtaining an engineering and an M.Sc. degree in the subject. Karolina quickly found she particularly enjoys working in research laboratories and the possibility of taking charge of the daily running of the laboratory at Zinergy was a particularly appealing perspective allowing her to use her expertise while broadening her horizons by participating in developing exciting new battery technologies.
Nikita Sachdev
Research Scientist

After receiving her B.Sc. in Chemistry from Mahidol University in Thailand, she worked there as a research/teaching assistant for a year. She then obtained a master’s degree and a PhD in Chemistry from Loughborough University. Her PhD explored the synthesis and assembling of different types of particles (spherical, nanosheets, core-shells) using emulsion droplets as reactors in a microfluidics device. Her iron oxide particles also received commercial interest. Nikita enjoys working in laboratories and taking up new challenges and believes that her role at Zinergy will allow her to develop new technologies in batteries.
